About

The Junior Ranger Program gets youth involved in City of Boulder's Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) department all year long! There are many ways to participate in local conservation. Join the group to hear about opportunities.

In the summer, the Junior Ranger program hires 10 crews of 10 teens 14 to 17 years old to work on natural resource projects such as trail maintenance, forestry, and invasive plant management. There are two sessions during the summer, in which 100 youth are hired.

Outside of the summer, the Junior Ranger team hosts opportunities for youth to interact with, volunteer for, and learn from Open Space and Mountain Parks.

Events include:

  • One-day volunteer projects on OSMP for youth (13 and older) to help their community and public lands, while learning about careers in conservation.
  • Education sessions on careers in conservation.
  • Application and resume workshops!
  • Community gatherings: fun hikes, fishing at Wonderland Lake, art in nature, and more!

If you'd like to request an opportunity for a youth group you know or are a part of, please reach out to juniorrangers@bouldercolorado.gov.
