Batty for Bats: A Family Halloween Nature Adventure
Listed by Public Events and Programs
About
Halloween is full of bats, ghosts, and spooky stories - but how much do you really know about real bats? Join OSMP naturalists for a family-friendly evening celebrating these amazing nighttime mammals.
Bring a picnic dinner and, if you'd like, a Halloween-themed dish to share - anything from monster snacks to spooky desserts. After dinner, make your own bat mask, then head out on a guided twilight walk at Sawhill Ponds. Along the way, we'll separate bat myths from bat facts, learn how bats use echolocation to hunt insects, and discover why they're essential to a healthy ecosystem. Keep your eyes open - we might spot one! 🦇
Costumes are welcome, just make sure yours is comfortable for walking outdoors. This evening blends Halloween fun with hands-on learning and outdoor exploration, made for the whole family.
