About
Volunteers will plant native shrubs, build protective fencing around new plantings, and then water. This will create an effective vegetated barrier for a prescribed prairie dog zone, for the restoration of land to benefit the ecology and health. This hands-on project offers an opportunity to connect with nature, build community, and make a meaningful impact on local wildlife habitat. Vegetated barriers can help deter prairie dogs from crossing into neighboring properties. Prairie dogs generally avoid areas with tall or dense vegetation because it obstructs their ability to detect predators, making those areas less desirable for movement and habitation.
