About
How does mountain water connect us to our Sister City, Dushanbe, in Tajikistan? Join us on this easy-paced 1.5-mile walk and find out.
High in the Pamir Mountains, glacial rivers have shaped cultures of hospitality, trade, and survival in a dry landscape. Here in Boulder, glacier-fed water has sustained agriculture, wildlife, and community life for more than a century. The Dushanbe Teahouse, a gift from our Sister City, stands as a reminder that rivers carry more than water. They carry stories, traditions and friendships.
Through activities, storytelling and a reflective tea gathering, we'll consider what water means to us and how cultures around the world honor its gift. We'll also look at how a changing climate is shrinking snowpacks, retreating glaciers and altering water flows, and what that means for conservation, restoration and our relationship with water.
